Grip

The Grip is in charge of anything the camera sits on: that means the tripod, the dolly, the slider, the crane, the drone, etc. In some countries, the Grip is also in charge of what the Lights are on: so lighting stands.

There are specialised Grips that focus on specific items: for instance, a Dolly Grip will only be in charge of the Dolly; a Crane Grip will focus on Cranes.

In a Grip Department, the HOD is the Key Grip.

On an AOTS project, we usually have small crews and lighter equipment, so we don't have a specific Grip. The Camera and Lighting teams will cover the Grip role.
